Zoetis Animal Health have a large range of animal health pharmaceutical products for large animals and livestock. These products are focussed primarily on cattle and sheep and sold to farmers via vets and farm supplies retail outlets.
Many of the products require specialist devices to administer them, including injectors and drench guns.
Typically, these had been supplied free to wholesalers, retailers and farmers as an additional sales incentive, which had created a situation where not only were they becoming an expected part of any product purchase, the fact they were apparently 'free' meant that they had little value applied to them.
However, these devices have to be designed and produced under stringent licenses and regulations and are actually expensive and highly technical pieces of equipment that were eating into the Zoetis bottom line.
The brief for FdK was to provide a branding and design for simple packaging that could be used to present the devices and ancillary equipment as high quality retail products with a retail price attached. This would change the value perception of the items by wholesalers, retailers and farmers and encourage them to see these as valuable items that should be maintained and re-used frequently, not just thrown away.
